FAQs

What is PUL?

PUL stands for Polyurethane laminate. It is a coating on the polyester nappy shell, which gives the nappy it's water resistant layer. It is breathable, meaning it helps keep moisture from coming out of the nappy, but still allows heat to pass through. It is stain resistant and can withstand many warm washes. We also use PUL for our cloth wet bags. Our PUL is TPU which means it is bonded by heat. It is also Oeko-tex Standard.

Where are our products made?

The factory where our nappies & accessories are made to the finished product are based in China. It's so great to have a connection so far away, yet feel so connected by the passion for cloth nappies.

The highly talented seamstresses make our products, and then there is strict quality control which follows. The PUL is Oeko-tex standard (no nasties, safe for babies), and the factory itself provides an ethical working place. They have a third-party SEDEX audit which they pay for yearly, so that we can be confident our products are made with love.

When we researched factories we had many samples made, and the lovely team we work with now make our products to perfection. They were the most expensive to go with, however it is clear that the cost is seen in the quality, which is paramount to us.

Outsourcing to China means a little more travelling for our cloth nappies, so we choose to lower our carbon footprint by shipments arriving by sea, plus our product materials are also sourced by the manufacturer within China, so materials are locally sourced for production.

•During February the factory closes for part of the month for the Chinese New Year, so that staff can be with their families and friends to celebrate, which they do each year.

Who else helps?

We cannot forget the huge involvement our Artists which we collaborate with have on our brand. They are so talented!

We source artists prints and commision the artists to use their creative prints for our cloth nappies and accessories. We love collaborating with artists to create exclusive prints to Cherrybottoms, and we have sourced a few prints which aren't exclusive - however, were just right for our products, and are still designed by talented artists from across the world, sharing their talents for us and others to purchase.
